Gerald Decker

VCAP Board 

Gerald Decker is a 4-year Navy veteran who went on four tours to Vietnam between 1968 and 1971. Gerald earned a Master’s Degree from George Washington University. Gerald's career includes nine years as a U. S. Senate staffer, Senior Manager for the National Federation of Independent Business, and a teacher of American History at the middle school level and Political Science at the high school and college levels. 

Since 2020, Gerald has co-written two books. The first was about his good friend and WWII veteran Alex Moskowitz. The second, “The Great Lockdown of 2020: An Anthology,” was published by Teen Scene, Inc. in October 2021. He is the founder and publisher of Cape Fear Voices/Teen Scene, an online publication that promotes communication skills among teens and provides a home for adult creative writers in the area.

Larry Dennis

Jr. Vice-Commander, Leland VFW Post 12196 

Bro Larry Dennis grew up in Brooklyn, New York and after Graduating from High School he joined the United States Army on January 25, 1982 as a Personnel Management Specialist and Retired as (Army First Sergeant) in the United Army Recruiting Command on 1 April 2002. After Retiring from the United States Army, First Sergeant Dennis taught Junior Reserve Officer Training Corp (9th Grade) for Twenty Years for Brunswick County Schools and Retired on 1 June 2023. First Dennis is a Desert Storm Veteran.

VFW Post 12196 Leland NC Quartermaster - Former US Navy Electronics Technician, 1969-1975, has served at a variety of bases and ships, including a brief tour in Vietnam with the Naval Advisory Group. Now retired, dedicating my time to actively support the VCAP program as well as the VFW in Leland and surrounding areas in helping those "brothers and sisters" who are in need of our support in various ways.

Fidias Reyes

Fidias Reyes serves as the Assistant Director of Events and Operations at Georgia State University's Student Center. In this role, she oversees the daily operations of the center, ensuring seamless event setups, efficient equipment management, and consistent facility maintenance. She also provides strategic direction for events and operations, including oversight of event setup, event equipment, assets, and fleet management. Additionally, she supports the management of facility upkeep, helping to ensure the smooth functioning of high-traffic, fast-paced spaces.

Prior to this role, Fidias cultivated a rich career in the arts, where she developed a deep appreciation for creative expression and community engagement. This background continues to inform her current work, as she strives to create environments that foster meaningful growth opportunities and nurture an inclusive and diverse community.
