Service Description

Participants will be taught stage acting and the basics of the theatre process in a learn by doing atmosphere. Using a set of short, one-act plays, both dramatic and comedic, participants will be taught the finer points of acting on stage. We will be working with plays between 10 and 30 minutes in length. These short pieces will allow time for beneficial scene work and allow the students to work on plays of different genres. The class with finish with a public performance of the plays worked on during the class. We will start by learning all the basics of stage terminology and performance. You will learn how to analyze a play and work on motion, vocalization and develop a character. The class will concentrate on acting but if you aren’t comfortable on stage but would like to get involved with theatre get in touch. We would love to hear from people who would like to stage manage, build sets, put together props or costumes or learn any other area of theatre production. The class is free to all active duty and veteran military, first responders, gold star families, nurses, medical professionals and their families. The class is also open to the general public for a donation of $40 to the Leland VFW. Classes will be held at 1018 Grandiflora Dr. Ste E, every Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:30 pm starting February 25th. The final performance will be sometime at the end of June. The specific dates and details are being finalized.
